1. Our Commitment

Myrtle Healthcare Limited is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all aspects of our business and supply chain.

We recognise that modern slavery can take many forms, including forced labour, exploitation, coercion and human trafficking. As a provider of care services, we understand our responsibility to ensure that both the people we support and those working within our organisation are protected from harm, abuse and exploitation.

We operate a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and are committed to acting ethically, with integrity and transparency in everything we do.

2. Our Organisation

Myrtle Healthcare Limited provides community-based care and support services. Our workforce includes care staff, management and support roles, and we work with a small number of external suppliers to support service delivery.

We recognise that the care sector can present risks in relation to workforce supply, and we take steps to ensure that all staff are recruited and employed fairly and safely.

3. Policies and Governance

We have a range of policies and procedures in place that support our commitment to preventing modern slavery, including:

  • Safeguarding Adults and Children Policy
  • Recruitment and Selection Policy
  • Whistleblowing Policy
  • Equality and Diversity Policy
  • Code of Conduct

These policies are regularly reviewed and are available to all staff. They set clear expectations around ethical behaviour, safeguarding and reporting concerns.

4. Recruitment and Employment Practices

We follow robust recruitment processes to ensure that all staff have the legal right to work and are employed fairly.

This includes:

  • Verification of identity and right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS checks
  • Collection of references and employment history
  • Face-to-face or structured interviews

We do not charge any recruitment fees to staff and ensure that employment terms are clear, fair and understood.

We also monitor working conditions and pay to ensure staff are treated appropriately. Our care staff are paid above minimum wage levels, supporting fair and ethical employment.

5. Training and Awareness

All staff receive safeguarding training as part of their induction and ongoing development. This includes awareness of exploitation, abuse and modern slavery.

Staff are trained to:

  • Recognise signs of exploitation or coercion
  • Understand their responsibility to report concerns
  • Follow safeguarding and escalation procedures

This ensures that risks are identified and acted upon promptly.

6. Supply Chain

We work with a limited number of suppliers and aim to ensure that they operate to appropriate ethical standards.

Where relevant, we:

  • Use reputable and established suppliers
  • Expect suppliers to comply with legal and ethical requirements
  • Review supplier arrangements where concerns arise

7. Reporting Concerns

We encourage staff to report any concerns about modern slavery or exploitation.

This can be done through:

  • Line management
  • Safeguarding reporting processes
  • Whistleblowing procedures

All concerns are taken seriously and investigated appropriately.

8. Continuous Improvement

We are committed to continually improving our approach to preventing modern slavery.

This includes:

  • Reviewing policies and procedures regularly
  • Updating training and awareness
  • Monitoring recruitment and workforce practices
